Tata rolled out Nano EV concept at Geneva Motor Show

Tata Motors rolled out one of the most exciting new car concept at 2010 Geneva Motor Show, named as Tata Nano Electric Vehicle (EV). Nano is the smallest mass produced automobile in global market. When it comes to driving, Tata promises that electric version will match standard 600cc Nano.

Tata Nano Electric Vehicle (EV) is built on existing award winning Tata Nano platform. This car includes an electric motor, which is powered by polymer lithium-ion batteries. This battery offers superior energy density to conventional batteries. It provides environment-friendly personal transportation for modern consumer. EV Tata Nano has a roomy interior, which includes seats for four people. It is estimated that with this new concept, one can travel up to 160 km with a load and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 10 seconds.

Tata Nano EV is also second vehicle to sport an electric powertrain after Indica Vista EV, which will go for sale in Europe this year. Tata’s Indica Vista EV is based on award-winning new generation Tata Indica Vista, which is also capable of carrying four individuals and sufficient luggage space. This car uses super polymer lithium ion batteries, which provide a range of up to 200 km and acceleration of 0-60 kmph in under 10 seconds.

Tata Motors is also displaying its Tata Xenon Double Cab pick-up vehicle and Tata Indica Vista at Geneva this year. Tata Nano EV will be available next year but pricing is yet not confirmed.
