Sony Alpha A850, A550 and A500 DSLR cameras launched
Sony added three new DSLRs in its flagship Alpha range, A850, A550 and A500, packing 24.6-, 14.2- and 12.3-megapixel sensors respectively. DSLR-A850 offers a step up to creative possibilities of full-frame imaging, including accessory compatibility, at a compelling price. While A550 and A500 individualize themselves by packing a new Memory Stick and SDHC card slots rather than Compact Flash.
Alpha 500 boasts an Exmor CMOS 12.3-megapixel sensor, an ISO range of up to 12,800, with 4 fps continuous shooting. It also packs an HDMI output, an HDR shooting mode and will be out in October, for $750.
A550 manages speedy shooting with 7 fps and a 921,000 pixel Xtra Fine LCD display and consists almost same features as in A500 model. Landing in October, A550 will be available for $950.
Senior manager of Digital Imaging business at Sony Electronics, Mark Weir said, “We are bringing performance of a higher class of cameras within the reach of a broader group of consumers. Not only do these cameras provide great value, but they also bring faster shooting speeds and new technologies like in-camera High Dynamic Range and new Live View features to mainstream photo enthusiasts.”
Featuring a 3-inch Xtra Fine LCD screen and 24.6 megapixel Exmor CMOS sensor, the A850 also shares slots for high-capacity Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo, HX series and CompactFlash media. The camera can be connected to Sony BRAVIA or any HDTV via HDMI cable for a big-screen view of shots. A850 will land in September, priced at $2,000 for the body alone.
