Sharp Corporation always develop amazing products like HDTV with built-in Blu-ray Disc recorder. Now, it has developed new 3D touchscreen LCD with industry’s highest brightness an it can switch between 2D and 3D modes. It enables to display 3D images without any special glasses. This LCD is really ideal for mobile devices such as digital cameras, smartphones and mobile phones.

Sharp 3D touchscreen LCD comes in 3.4-inch size display which is best for Nintendo 3DS. It also features FWVGA (480×854px) resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 500cd/m2 brightness. It comes with or without touchscreen function.

This new 3D touchscreen LCD uses parallax barrier system to display 3D images. Basically, parallax barrier has a series of vertical slits, which incorporated into ordinary LCD to control path of light reaches both eyes, presenting 3D image and creating sense of depth. It has ability to display images in both landscape and portrait orientations. But, conventional 3D LCD had difficulty in displaying high quality images in 3D mode.

CG-Silicon technology and optimization of parallax barrier helps to improve image quality by achieving both high brightness and low crosstalk. This technology has shrunk wiring width within LCD panel and allows more light to pass and doubling brightness as compared to conventional model. In addition, optimizing parallax barrier design has increased efficiency of light which dramatically reduces crosstalk.

Thickness of LCD module is about same as conventional 2D displays, but 3D LCD has touchscreen display. As 3D images can be used in portrait and landscape screen orientations, so it is ideal for sophisticated mobile devices.

Without touchscreen Conventional 3D LCD features 2.4-inch display, QVGA resolution 240 x 320 pixels and 100:1contrast ratio. Sharp will start mass production of this 3D LCD on first half of fiscal year 2010. Pricing of these products yet not decided.
