Optimus Popularis Keyboard finally pictured online
The “Optimus Popularis keyboard” which have displays for keys and faster, thinner and simpler than its Optimus Maximus predecessor has finally got its pictures online. It’s an interesting idea just like “brands on keyboard” by designer Ignacio Pilotto. Art Lebedev Studio, Optimus Popularis keyboard is slightly scaled down version of company Optimus Maximus keyboard, known for tiny OLED displays on each key. The Popularis uses keys which are 43 percent smaller than those on Maximus.
Despite of its smaller size, actual screen component of the each key is larger & higher resolution than before. The 15mm x 15mm key faces will each show LCD screen(12.4mm x 13.4mm), capable of displaying image of 64 x 64 pixel. You will love new chiclet keys with typewriter spacing even as mourn the loss of a traditional numpad. Art Leb says, “a press of the FN key will remedy that issue”. Numbers are arranged in a familiar calculator layout.

Optimus Popularis keyboard, which the studio informs, will cost less than $1000, when it eventually arrives. Wow! that’s big money! Art Lebedev Studio has not revealed much more on Popularis pricing info yet. But smaller size and switch from OLED to LCD technology should mean much more affordable product. The Optimus Popularis will be available in 2011.
