Intel is entering in to the world of laptops with its Dual core Atom Netbook. Intel unveiled its new “Canoe Lake” innovation platform for netbooks at Computex, Taipei. This is a 14mm thick machine which is going to become world’s thinnest netbook. It can support single & dual-core Atom processors.

According to Intel: “It includes unique port of choice ’software strategy including Windows’, MeeGo and Google operating systems. ‘Canoe Lake’ innovation Platform runs cooler and is 50 percent thinner than any other netbook.”  Though, “Canoe Lake” is simply a reference guideline for other manufacturers to use. So, no one can predict what machines, that which use this could end up looking like.

Two years ago, Chipzilla introduced first Atom netbooks. And now, Intel has finally announced dual-core Atom processors for the category. While details on speeds and feeds of new Pine Trail N series CPUs are being kept under wraps for now. But there’s still knick-knacks about some features. They will support DDR3 RAM and provide comparable performance to dual-core desktop Atom processors and still maintain similar battery life to current netbooks. Intel still plans to keep these Atom chips in 10-inch systems, and told that users will see speed benefits in multitasking & browsing.

According to David (Dadi) Perlmutter, executive vice president and co-general manager, Intel Architecture Group: “Intel believes the strength of the Atom franchise can help consumers realize the true potential for a common experience to enable the compute continuum.”  “With platforms ranging from compact and portable netbooks, to smart TV devices and innovative tablets designs, Intel Architecture is driving innovative products based on a unique port of choice “software strategy.”

Netbooks are not only about to get faster but they are going to go on serious diet. Dual-Core Atom Netbooks goes into production from next week. May be shipping of these netbooks will take place before holiday season. To give it that thin size peering is surely, still going on to make it super thin laptop. Intel expects its partners, to use platform & have products out end of this year. So, wait a little bit for this super thin laptops.
