Garmin-Asus Nuvifone G60 and M20 shipping this month
After a patently absurd numerous delays, it actually feels like Garmin-Asus Nuvifone is approaching a proper launch.
Garmin-Asus Nuvifone G60 will be the first to ship and will go on sale in Taiwan on July 27, and in Singapore and Malaysia in late August. And Nuvifone M20 will go on sale in the end of August, shipping in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia. However, no schedule was mentioned for a North American release.
Nuvifone G60 will come with integrated Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth, and over-the-air e-mail capabilities. It will come with preloaded maps of North America and Europe, offering audible turn-by-turn directions.
The nuvifone M20, specially designed for on-the-go professionals, features Windows Mobile 6.1, a dual-band 3.5G/tri-band GSM phone with Wi-Fi connectivity, enterprise and personal email, a PC-like web browsing experience, IM and SMS/MMS, and the superior navigation experience of Garmin.
Let’s see, how well these Linux based smartphones will do against the tough competition among its competitors like Apple, Nokia, Palm, HTC, and devices that are arguably more advanced than the Nuvifone.
Pricing suggested for G60 and M20 for Malaysia would be RM1799($510 approx) and RM2099($595 approx).
