Fujitsu released FUTRO S100 with VIA Eden processor
We can remember a time when VIA was very often mentioned when talking CPUs, but now the company has made a comeback with its processors slipping into netbooks, small form factor PCs, thin client series.
VIA has recognized that more and more companies are selecting its low-power CPUs due to the benefits of going green. And for that, the new FUTRO S100 has been revealed with a 500MHz VIA Eden ULV processor that enables this entire system to suck down just 11 watts under full load.
It would be a completely fanless and silent thin client and virtual workplace solution. Richard Brown, the Vice President of Marketing, VIA Technologies, has said, “Our VIA Eden ULV processors allow creation of a new class of fanless and silent devices that are today seeing significant growth in the enterprise. The FUTRO thin client series from Fujitsu represents leading edge of energy-efficient client computing, something we’re proud to be a part of.”
Other specs of this processor include 1GB of DDR2 memory, VGA output, a pair of USB 2.0 connectors, Ethernet, Chrome9 HC3 graphics, a VX800 media processor, and internal CF-based storage support. There’s no mention of price, but it’s ready to ship for those who inquire.
