Ford enables HD radio with iTunes Tagging ~ The first in its category

Now, Ford is set to be first automaker to introduce high definition radios with features such as iTunes tagging. They have planned to extend Wi-Fi access to their new models. Ford to offer widest variety of factory-installed technology, features and conveniences to customers to make driving even more enjoyable.

HD Radio technology captures free digital radio broadcasts and play them with dramatically improved sound. This digital technology provides a number of advanced services that is not available with an analog radio. FM audio have near-CD quality which makes it convenient for users to select their favorite songs to download and purchase. Extra FM channels named HD2/HD3 are available and useful on-screen Program Service Data, such as artist name and song title.

Through the factory installed Sync interface system, iTunes Tagging will provide customers with ability to capture a song with a simple push of tag button on radio display and song information will be stored in radio’s memory.

The world’s first implementation of iTunes Tagging in a factory-installed package HD Radio receiver will launch in 2010 on new Ford models.
