Dell Streak official, coming this June

Today, Dell released plans for 5-inch Android-based Tablet PC - Streak, designed to provide people best “on-the-go” entertainment, social connection, and navigation experience. Early this June Dell Streak will be available across UK at O2 stores, O2.co.uk, The Carphone Warehouse, and later at Dell.co.uk. Pricing and data plans for UK will be announced by O2 ahead of availability. Later this summer, Dell has planned to make Streak available in US stores too.

Dell Streak will bring up new concept PC with cell phone features. It will serve function of primary mobile phone and more useful for staying in touch with contacts and social media. This device also supports voice with included microphone.

Dell is excited with its big foray into smart phone market with Streak. Streak features include 3G + Wi Fi and Bluetooth, a 5 inch super sized Android handset, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5 mega pixel cam, VGA front facing camera. Memory updates include - removable battery, 16GB built-in memory and customized UI. 2 GB of internal storage and Micro SD card that can hold up to 32GB of expandable memory that will support upto 42 movies, 32,000 photos, and 16,000 songs.

Streak will support for Adobe Flash 10.1 on Android 2.2, video chat applications and other software innovations. Android software includes integrated Google Maps with turn navigation, satellite views and streets. It supports social media like Facebook, Twitter and You Tube.

“The Dell Streak hits the sweet spot between traditional smartphones and larger-screen tablets,” said Ron Garriques, president, Dell Communication Solutions Group. “Its unique size provides people new ways to enjoy, connect, and navigate their lives.”

Dell’s opting to market Streak as “The ultimate portable Tablet PC“. And would prefer that this device fully equipped to carry out cellular calls like a phone, not as a smart phone.
