Datawind unveils Ubisurfer and PocketSurfer3 for US release
After trying luck with PocketSurfer, and PocketSurfer2, Datawind is now in US with its two new devices, Ubisurfer and PocketSurfer3.
The netbook-sized UbiSurfer (short for “Ubiquitous Surfer”) includes an embedded CDMA module, with an year free internet usage anywhere in US at 30 hours per month. Datawind’s patented acceleration technology enables it to deliver web pages faster than other portable netbooks on a mobile network, at five to seven seconds per page.
Specially designed to provide superior functionality and convenience, this netbook offers 1GB SSD (solid state disk) with shock proof storage and 25GB of online storage which can be expanded by using a USB or SD Flash Memory device. Users can easily upload images with SD/SDHC card reader. It also have a built in microphone and dual speaker system with Stereo Sound Earphone Jack. This will be available in US in October, for a list price of $199.
The PocketSurfer3, an ultra-thin handheld, is the fastest ever Mobile Internet Device (MID) backed by a patented data compression technology, allowing end-users to experience a faster, richer mobile internet experience. Weighing just 174 grams, it allows users to browse web in its original layout on 640×240 TFT Active Matrix Screen with a touchpad mouse pointer and full backlit memrane keyboard.
It has its own built-in GPRS antenna and SIM card that connects itself straight to the mobile network to get you online immediately. This product will be available in October, pricing $249 with no monthly internet fee or activation charge, which is a big drop from the PocketSurfer2, which costs $299 and also required a $20 or $30 monthly data plan.
