AT&T Rolls Out Android 4.0 Update for HTC Vivid!
AT&T just announced the availability of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS for HTC Vivid users. After installing software update, users can now enjoy improved HTC Sense and optimized sound of Beats by Dr. Dre Audio. Whenever a media file is played using media players or third party apps, user will experience authentic sound. HTC Vivid will be the first U.S. smartphone to receive Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” as an update and first to be issued by a wireless carrier.

Software update will be followed by several other AT&T smartphones in coming months including LG Nitro, Motorola ATRIX 2, Motorola ATRIX 4G, Pantech Burst, Pantech Element, Samsung Captivate Glide, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. Designed to take smartphone experience to next level, all-new Android 4.0 OS makes common actions more visible and lets you navigate with simple gestures. Refined animations and feedback throughout the system make interactions interesting and engaging. Entirely new typeface improves readability and brings a modern feel to user interface.
In addition to Beats by Dr. Dre Audio, Android 4.0 features Face Unlock. It’s a completely new approach to secure smartphones and make each person’s smartphone even more personal. Face Unlock lets you unlock your smartphone using facial recognition. It takes advantage of front-facing camera and facial recognition technology to register a face during setup and then recognize it again when unlocking. Just hold smartphone in front of face to unlock.
Beginning today, HTC Vivid users can download update via Wi-Fi by visiting http://www.att.com/vividupdate. If Wi-Fi is not available, users can download software upgrade to a PC and install it via sideload. HTC Vivid users will also receive SMS notification of upgrade availability.
