Aptera 2e three-wheeler electric car by DoE

Just about a month ago, Aptera released news about its front wheel drive version of an all-electric model, series 2e, which has rolled out the door of its Californian production facility. If you’re a person who loves to be the center of attention, then Aptera 2e is the best car for you. This three-wheel and two-seat electric car draws a crowd everywhere it goes. It is equipped with a lithium-based battery. Although details such as battery chemistry or supplier and kw/hr capacity is still yet to be specified.

The exterior specifications of this products are dual color-keyed power outside mirrors, aerodynamic multi-reflector halogen headlamps, washer-linked variable intermittent windshield, rear window defogger with timer, rear electronic rear hatch locking system, solar energy-reflecting glass, and a smart key system cidental lock out.

The Interior specifications include:

  • Push button start
  • Electronic shift PRNDL (shift controller)
  • AM/FM/MP3/WMA with 5 speakers and MP3/Smart Phone DVD navigation system
  • Power up/down windows with driver side one touch
  • Power automatic door locks with anti-lockout feature
  • Center console armrest with two cup holders
  • Overhead mounted LED Dome Lights
  • Recycled Fabric-trimmed seats and door panels
  • Leatherette (recylced materials) trimmed steering wheel
  • Defroster-linked CFC-free automatic climate control with compressor air conditioning
  • One 12V auxiliary power outlets and One 12V USB Outlet
  • Retractable passenger-assist grips at all doors

Above and beyond the call of Safety:

  • Remote key less entry system with 2-stage unlocking, panic function and remote illuminated entry
  • Backup camera
  • Driver and front passenger Airbag System
  • Front and rear crumple zones and side-impact door beams
  • Engine immobilizer
  • Center high-mount stop lamp (CHMSL)
  • Emergency Tire inflation system
  • 3-point front outboard seat belts with adjustable shoulder anchors and driver-side Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR), front passenger Automatic/Emergency Locking Retractor (ALR/ELR)
  • Driver and front passenger seatbelt with starter interlock

  • Anti-theft system

It is expected that Aptera 2e would reach “volume production” in 2010. Price is not yet decided, but the company wants to keep it between $25,000 and $40,000.
