This entry-level model includes wonderful features:

  • 27-inch LED backlit screen with 2560×1440 resolution 16:9 display
  • 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
  • 4GB of DDR3 RAM
  • 1TB 7200RPM SATA hard drive
  • Slot-loading DVD burner
  • ATI Radeon HD 4670 with 256MB dedicated video memory (optional upgrade to 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4850)
  • Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 802.11n, iSight webcam, Gigabit Etnernet, four USB ports, a single FireWire 800, SD card slot, mini DisplayPort for video output

That’s the standard specification for this 27-inch model, and it’s shared by top-spec standard configuration of 21.5-inch iMac. Smaller desktop has a 1920 x 1080 LCD resolution and loses Mini DisplayPort input functionality, while the 27-inch model gets a 500GB, 7200rpm hard-drive and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256MB graphics. Buyers will get upcoming models with 2.66GHz Intel Core i5 CPU or 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 processor.

Apple’s switch to standard wireless peripherals such as keyboard and mouse. Wireless keyboard has built-in Bluetooth which means no cables to connect. There’s no numeric keypad, so mouse can be comfortably placed next to the keyboard. iMac comes with wireless Magic Mouse. It’s the world’s 1st Multi-Touch mouse. There’s no scroll ball, no cord, no clunky wheel and no visible button. Try it once.

The 27-inch iMac and 21.5-inch iMac starts at $1,699 and $1,199 respectively and are available at Apple store.
